Success in school isn't based on how naturally gifted you are or how innately intelligent. It's all about hard work and organization. If you want to succeed in school, you have to make the commitment to work hard, stay focused, and keep track of all the assignments and projects your teachers assign you. Once you make the determination to work hard, you'll find that success is completely attainable for anyone, regardless of natural ability. Below are some tips for achieving success in school.
The most important part of becoming a successful student is showing up. Fortunately, it's also the easiest part. Before the semester or school years starts, make a commitment to yourself that you will make it to class on time no matter what. Teachers will tell you that the students that are the most successful are the ones that show up for class. The next step is to organize your work. Get folders and notebooks for each class. If you find it helpful, color-code your folders to help you identify which folder is for which class. Always keep them in one place, like a backpack or bag.
If you can, get a small planner, calendar, or notebook. Keep careful track of due dates and dates of upcoming tests. If you have a visual reminder of assignments you'll be less likely to forget them. Next, set aside certain times during the week that you are going to study. No matter what comes up, reserve that time for studying. If you find yourself struggling in a class despite your efforts, find a tutor that can give you help outside of class. By following these steps you'll be more likely to succeed in school.
